SCULPTURE NOT SCULPTURE
06.03.09 - 22.03.09
Sa + Su 12:00 - 18:00 or by appointment
private view 05.03.09
Works by Beverley Bennett, Alex Booker, Sarah Boris, Adam Furman, Rhiannon
Hunter, Will Martyr.
Exhibition #2 explores the margins of sculpture.
Utilising the inflatable as canvas, Will Martyr creates three dimensional
paintings which satirise our desires.
Alex Bookers vertical alignment of reclaimed metal ships forms a structural
and pictorial archive, steeped in nostalgia, waiting to sail off around
the world.
Architectural spaces provide the references within Rhiannon Hunter's
work, which she translates into a textural language within the surface
of her printed works.
Beverly Bennett explores drawing like a sculptor carving stone, dynamic
marks made with a pencil carve the paper with an image.
Reflective letters are structures together by Sarah Boris to create
a dramatic visual affect from discarded remnants of the everyday.
Adam Nathaniel Furman's film and sculptures initially seem very separate,
but as the film evolves one soon realises that they become one and the
same object. |
